Coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client that focuses on identifying the client’s desires and goals, creating an action plan to move the client towards them, and calling for the client to be accountable throughout the process. The partnership will assist the client in empowering themselves to live their best life!

The client is in the driver's seat and sets the agenda for each coaching session. What does that mean to you? It's simple. You're free to decline any suggestion, request, recommendation, or advice that the coach (which is me) offers at any time.

I am not an expert in your life and I won’t pretend to be! I won't tell you what to do, how to behave, or how to feel. Sometimes that’s a hard concept to grasp—believe me, I get it! Sure, there are days that I would love to be on auto-pilot, no thinking, no feeling, just doing because it has to get done! When someone else tells you what to do though, that action originates somewhere else, and it may not always be authentic to you. So don’t worry if you struggle with the concept I will always politely remind you who the expert on your life is (that’s you, in case you haven’t picked up on that yet!).

What I will do is partner with you in your cause. Disclaimer - you will be doing all the hard work…but you will also be reaping all the best rewards, so it’s even-stevens. I will champion your agenda and ask targeted questions to help you unveil how you really feel.  With your answers, we will work together in setting goals and creating agreed-upon action plans to attain those goals, resulting in long-term fulfillment and satisfaction. As your coach I will advocate for your success (based on your definition—not mine). Sometimes the sessions will focus on exploring who you are, discovering what makes you tick, and what you desire most. Other times, the sessions will be more goal-and action-oriented, which is just as important. After all, self-discovery without action is a process left incomplete.

If there's one thing I'm a veteran of in my own life, it's transitions. That brings me a lot of perspective as a coach and I have gained hard-won knowledge about myself thanks to my own transitions. The same applies here as in personal development coaching. This is a partnership (you and me), based on your agenda (not mine), where you do the hard work and reap the best rewards (so it's even-stevens). The difference here is, of course, that you're in transition.

The thing about transition is that it's not always by choice (an unexpected career change, illness, divorce or death). Other times it is (a wedding, expecting a child, relocating). Most big changes, even the joyful ones, bring stress and uncertainty. Although it can be hard to stay focused and centered during these times of transition, they can be great opportunities for growth! As your coach I will work with you to ease the stress of your transition, reframe your perspective, and help you let go of what no longer serves you so you can begin to make room for what does. With your desired outcome identified you will be able to move into the future in a healthy manner. If you are navigating a life transition, whether by choice or not, transition coaching can assist you in finding your way.

The Purpose Clarity Program is for those in need of a roadmap to discover their definition of success and to locate their purpose. This is a 4-part program created by Carol McClelland Fields, Ph.D., BCC. During this program, I will guide you through a process to convert your passions and interests into a clear purpose and direction.

The 4 parts of the program are as follows:

  • Part 1: Identify your passions and interests.
  • Part 2: Brainstorm up to 40 ideas in less than an hour.
  • Part 3: Use your top ten ideas to discover your purpose.
  • Part 4: Create a plan for how to bring your purpose to life.

If you are wrestling with a life situation or transition such as going through a major life transition, a personal awakening, or reinventing yourself after an illness, divorce, job loss, relocation or disaster. Reclaiming/rediscovering your identity. Identifying your future direction now that you aren't working. Dealing with changes in the composition of your family - empty nesters, parents of boomerang children, etc., this program is for you. You may be a recent graduate. Seeking employment or changing careers. Returning to work after a stint as a stay-at-home parent, caregiver, or illness and are in need of roadmap to point you in the right direction. Again, this is the program for you. Please know this program is not recommended if you are involved in an acute transition such as grieving a loss, becoming a parent, getting married, relocating, etc. In these situations, I recommend transition coaching as an alternative.

As a result of working through the Purpose Clarity Program, you will have more clarity about who you are and what gives you a sense of meaning. A clear statement of your purpose. Ideas about you might bring purpose to your life through your work or service. An action plan to help you do just that.

Joy Tanksley said it best: “We make (purpose) too heavy, too mysterious, too serious…Purpose is finding your authentic self, and living in a way that honors whatever you find.”

A vision board (dream board) is a powerful tool to assist you in designing the life you want to live. It’s a collage of pictures and words that represent your goals and dreams.

Vision boards help in the manifestation of your goals and dreams by keeping them fresh in your mind. This allows you to maintain focus on them. More importantly, it allows some people to cast a vision of a future that they may have never thought possible based on their prior life circumstances. If your future seems a bit blurry a vision board can make that picture much clearer.

Vision board parties make a great theme event for a night in with your friends or family. The sharing of dreams and goals with each other always leads to new discoveries about one another. Plus, it makes for a gathering filled with positivity, inspiration, and love! When you hire me for a vision board party, you’re in charge of the guest list and I’m in charge of the entertainment. I will bring all the necessary supplies for you and each guest to create a vision board. There will be a brief but fun and informative teaching session about what a vision board is and how to make it work. I will then hang back while you and each of your guests create your individual vision boards. I will also be available to offer inspiration and guidance throughout the process.

Vision board workshops are ideal for a wide range of groups. Small businesses seeking to foster a team environment and organizations providing services for children (middle school age or above), young adults, and adults find that workshops bring clarity and connection to participants. Additionally, non-profits providing resources for sober living, support for domestic violence or sex trafficking survivors, or transitional housing for homeless can use these workshops to provide hope and comfort for those who may feel stuck in the present or held back by trauma. I provide all the necessary supplies for each attendee to create a vision board. There is a presentation that covers what a vision board is, the science that supports vision boards, and how to make a vision board work for an individual. I facilitate a guided reflection period to allow for attendees to better focus on their goals and dreams, and then engage them in a few exercises to get their creativity flowing. Once the creation of the vision boards is underway, I offer inspiration and guidance throughout and encourage attendees to share with each other and to champion each other’s goals and dreams.
